Even Just a Bone”: A Father’s Cry, Echoing the Father’s Heart
A Cry That Shook Mexico
On April 10, 2025, in the heart of Mexico City, a moment unfolded that shook the nation. During the third national dialogue between search collectives and federal authorities, one father shattered the silence with a plea that cut through political walls and pierced the soul of a country:
“Even just a bone.”
Gustavo Hernández, the father of Abraham Zeidy Hernández del Razo, who has been missing since April 14, 2024, in Escobedo, Nuevo León, spoke tremblingly in front of Mexico’s Secretary of the Interior, Rosa Icela Rodriguez. In front of more than 170 people gathered at Expo Reforma Convention Center, he begged for closure, for a sign, for a piece of his son:
“At least give me a little bone… a bone to keep with me. We need only a single bone to ensure his Christian burial. We don’t want war. We don’t want violence. We want love. Because we believe in you.”
His words, soaked in anguish and hope, became a symbol of the desperation felt by thousands of Mexican families searching for their loved ones. Posters of missing persons covered walls and tables, while chants thundered in unison:
“They were taken alive; we want them back alive!”
“Disappearances are state crimes!“
The event wasn’t just a meeting. It was a gaping wound. This served as a poignant reminder that beneath every statistic lies a narrative, a family in mourning, and a shattered chair at the dinner table. And in the middle of that pain, the voice of Gustavo Hernández became a cry for something even greater—a piece of truth.
The Voice of the Eternal Father Still Calling
From our ministry in Chihuahua, we work relentlessly to keep children, teens, and young adults away from violence and from being exploited or recruited—sometimes willingly, often deceived or forcibly taken—by criminal groups. Many of these youths are later “disappeared” by their recruiters or rival gangs. Their families are left in agony, never hearing from them again.
We see stories like Gustavo’s up close. They shake our souls.
Our mission is a Creative and Human Development Academy, offering arts, vocational training, and psychological care-anchored in the gospel and powered by sons and daughters of God who plant the seeds of His Word. They carry the Father’s letter in their hearts, inviting the lost to come home—to a place of healing and abundant life.
But perhaps the most shaken soul is the father’s own.
Every day, every hour, every second, the Eternal Father waits, his arms wide open, waiting for the lost child to return home.
And the cry of Gustavo becomes a metaphor, a mirror of God’s Spirit groaning for the lost—both the disappeared in our streets and the millions of souls walking in spiritual darkness, without hope or direction.
Can you hear His voice?
Can you feel Him calling you to rise?
To search for the lost sheep?
To sweep the house for the lost coin?
To welcome home the prodigal?
Can they rescue souls from the enemy’s grasp?
“Whom shall I send? Who will go for us?”
